In the Buganda Regional League, Simba SC/Uganda Wildlife Authority extended their lead at the top with a stunning 3-0 win over direct competitors Buwambo United on Sunday, February 15, at Namulonge Play Ground.
Reagan Tigan Kirumira kick-started the well-deserved win with an opening goal. Samuel Ssemugugu added the second, and Ejoku Enos Cyril finished off the game with the third goal.
With the win, Uganda Wildlife Authority took its points tally to 36 after 15 games, marking the end of the first round of the season.
For Buwambo United, who have been having unstable performances in recent games, the loss resulted in them dropping to fourth place, behind leaders UWA FC, whom they were just a point behind before Sunday’s outing.
In other games, Young Simba, another league challenger, suffered a setback when they lost to Masaka City 1-0, ending their five-game winning streak, which was highlighted by a 12-goal rout over bottom side Super Eagles Lugongwe.
In the drop zone, Super Eagles Lugongwe swallowed another bucket of goals, losing 6-1 to Nyendo FC, though they improved by five goals, as they lost 12-1 to Young Simba last weekend.
Buikwe Red Star again lost to Wobulenzi United 2-0, while their fellows from Kiboga United also lost a drop zone battle 3-1 to Nantabulirwa FC, though the win kept them unmoved from under the relegation line, as Synergy earlier won 2-0 over Seeta United.
Now, Nantabulirwa FC is 13th, just two points above the relegation line, behind UG Sports Arena. Kiboga United is 14th with just 4 points, and Buikwe Redstar is 15th with 4 points, while Super Eagles Lugongwe is at the bottom with 2 points, although they still have 2 games to play.
