With a 2-0 lead in the semifinals of the Best-of-Five series, Victoria University Crocs had one job; to sweep UMU Flames at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

The Crocs won the first contest with a close score of 56-51 but returned in Game 2 a different side and registered a resounding 77-52 triumph on Sunday.

The final bend of their return to the table of men had them extinguish the Flames with a 72-53 score victory in Game 3 played on Wednesday.

After two seasons in the lower division, Joseph Kumbai led the Crocs back to the table of men with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ronald Ayume (17 points) and Cyrus Wobusobozi (11 points) were the other players with double digits.

With a 3-0 sweep, Victoria advanced to the playoffs final and automatically bounced back to the Uganda National Basketball League.

The next job is to finish strong as they await the victor of the other semifinal series between Rezlife and UPDF Tomahawks, with the latter currently leading 2-0.

For now, congratulatory messages are pouring in thick and fast from the basketball fraternity with that of their Vice Chancellor Lawrence Mulindwa at the top.

“What a proud moment completing a 3-0 sweep in the best-of-five series and securing a spot in the National Basketball League. To the teams we defeated, thank you for the spirited competition and excellent sportsmanship.”
