The Victoria Pearls crowned their group stages unblemished after their 6-wicket win over Nigeria on Thursday in their last game of the group stages at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

After their comfortable wins against Rwanda and Nigeria in their opening games, the Pearls entered Thursday’s game already in the semifinals, but a desirable ending was paramount.

Sarah Akiteng emerged the MVP of the game. The slow bowler was a menace to the Nigerian batters as she gave them only 7 runs from her four Overs while picking two wickets.

Evelyn Anyipo continues with her impressive bowling. The opener also picked two while taking in only 11 runs. Like Anyipo, the team captain Consy Aweko never disappoints.

The Skipper turned out with three wickets and suffering just 16 runs.

It was a collective effort from the bowlers who had the West African nation manage only 63.

In response, the openers did most of the chasing. Kevin Awino put 16 while Proscovia Alako got 23. Janet Mbabazi was a 9 not out as Uganda tracked down the target with five Overs spare.

Uganda and Namibia progress to the semifinals from their group. Uganda will face Tanzania who finished second in their group in the next round while Namibia will face Zimbabwe who came second to Uganda.

Both semifinals will be played on Saturday.
