Uganda’s Victoria Pearls secured a semifinal spot at the ICC Africa Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers with a commanding eight-wicket win over Kenya on Wednesday at the Namibia Cricket Ground.
In a must-win clash, captain Janet Mbabazi led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 63 off 61 balls to steer Uganda’s chase.
Set a target of 108, the Pearls comfortably reached 108/2 in 18.4 overs, with Rita Musamali adding a steady 21 off 18 balls*.
Earlier, Kenya managed 107/8 in their 20 overs, with Venasa Ooko top-scoring 41 off 32 balls. Uganda’s bowlers kept the pressure on, led by Concy Aweko (2/12) and Immaculate Nakisuuyi (1/26).
The victory sets up a tense semifinal clash against Zimbabwe on Thursday at 10:30 am, while hosts Namibia face Tanzania at 3:30 pm.
Uganda is now just one win away from the final and a step closer to their Global qualifiers.
