Uganda’s Victoria Pearls wrapped up a flawless campaign in style, defeating Canada Women by 12 runs on Sunday to complete a 5–0 clean sweep and retain the Victoria Series title at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

In a match that summed up their dominance all week, captain Janet Mbabazi’s side showed resilience, discipline, and teamwork to deliver a memorable victory before a jubilant home crowd.

Sent in to bat first, Uganda posted a steady 101 for 4 from 20 overs. Mbabazi led from the front with 26 off 31 balls, while Rita Musamali anchored the innings with an unbeaten 20.

Proscovia Alako’s late 17 off 7 balls added crucial runs as Uganda set a defendable total.

Canada bowled tightly through Amarpal Kaur (1/11) and Tiffany Thorpe (2/20), but Uganda’s partnerships ensured stability throughout.

Defending the total, the hosts’ bowlers took charge once again. Naume Jane Amongin ripped through Canada’s top order with 3 for 12, before debutant Teddy Oyella sealed the win with a brilliant final over, taking four wickets.

Despite resistance from Kaur (37 off 35) and Vandana Mahajan (22 off 33), Canada were dismissed for 89 and 12 runs short.

The result capped Uganda’s fifth straight victory, following wins by seven wickets, four wickets, 18 runs, and 43 runs, reaffirming their status as Africa’s third-best women’s side behind South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Captain Mbabazi praised her team’s consistency and focus:

“I’m proud we met our targets and showed maturity against a new opponent. The girls’ hard work is paying off, and this win gives us confidence heading to Thailand.”

The day was especially memorable for Immaculate Nakisuuyi, who celebrated her 100th WT20I cap by winning the Most Valuable Player award after scoring 81 runs, taking 4 wickets, and making five fielding dismissals.
