Uganda’s Victoria Pearls continued their winning start to the 2025 Victoria Series with another hard-fought four-wicket victory over Canada on Tuesday morning at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Just like in Monday’s opener, captain Janet Mbabazi won the toss and chose to bowl, a decision that once again paid off.
Uganda’s bowlers were disciplined throughout, led by Kevin Amuge (2/20) and Naume Jane Amongin (2/10), while Consy Aweko and Sarah Akiteng added a wicket each to restrict Canada.
During the inning, Amarpal Kaur’s (30 not out) supported by Achini Perera and Terisha Ansil Lavia both raised (19), steering the visitors to 82/6 in 20 overs.
Uganda’s chase began shakily as Uganda lost Mbabazi, Esther Iloku, and Kevin Awino early, slipping to 29/4 after the quick dismissal of Rita Musamali (6).
Immaculate Nakisuuyi then steadied the innings with a composed 37 off 57 balls, anchoring Uganda’s recovery.
She received brief support from Stephanie Nampiina (13) and later Proscovia Alako (12*), while Amongin’s calm three runs saw the hosts reach 83/6 with an over to spare.
Canada’s wickets were shared evenly among their bowlers, Vandana Mahajan, Rabbjyot Rajput, Indomatie Goordial-John, Amarpal Kaur, and Terisha Ansil Lavia all claiming one apiece.
Nakisuuyi’s knock earned her the Player of the Match award, sealing back-to-back wins for the Victoria Pearls, who now take a rest day on Wednesday for community service before returning to action on Thursday, October 23, at Lugogo.
