Victoria University coach Emmanuel Amangu is confident that his team has a chance to clinch their first victory when they face Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) on Thursday for Match Day 5 of Group B in the Pepsi University Football League. The match will be held in Kabojja.
Currently at the bottom of the table with two points, Victoria University has yet to record a win in their last four games. However, Amangu believes they can turn their fortunes around against IUIU.
“There’s pressure every game. We need a win. The players need a win. And I want to win more than anyone,” Amangu stated.
“At the moment, we’re nowhere near where we want to be. But you can’t put the icing on the cake before building the foundation,” Amangu added.
Victoria University narrowly missed out on their first league victory of the season when they hosted MUBS in Kabojja.
Despite taking an early lead, they were eventually defeated 3-1 thanks to a brace and an assist from Nazar Benjamin in just four minutes.
However, they managed to salvage a point in the return leg at Nakawa, holding MUBS to a goalless draw.
Meanwhile, IUIU coach Haruna Kebba is determined to bounce back from a disappointing defeat against YMCA in their previous game.
IUIU currently sits four points behind table leaders MUBS and needs maximum points from this match to keep pace with them going into the final matchday.
“I know we face a tough task on Thursday, but I want to assure our fans that we will give them a good result,” Kebba said.
