Vipers coach Leonard Neiva was left frustrated after his side’s 1-1 draw with SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League on Friday evening at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
The Venoms created a number of chances but were unable to find a winner, with Patrick Mbowa‘s late equalizer canceling out Garvin Kizito‘s first-half opener for Villa.
Neiva felt that his side should have taken all three points from the game.
“We are not satisfied with the result,” he said. “We created enough chances to win the game, but we didn’t take them.
“We had five or four clear chances to score, but we missed them. It is amazing that we have not lost yet, but our opponents like KCCA have lost their four games.”
Neiva believes that the two-week international break may have affected his side’s rhythm.
“We had a long break without playing and it affected the match fitness of the players,” he said. “But we shall improve with time.”
Villa coach Dusan Stojanovic was pleased with his side’s performance, despite not being able to secure a victory.
“I am happy with the performance of my players,” he said. “Villa is the youngest team in the league and this was a very good experience for them.
“We are in a process of building our team and we are getting knowledge on how to play games like this.”
“I am a coach who wants to win every single match, but we didn’t win today. However, the boys put up a good challenge.”
