The seasoned coach and former Uganda Cranes star has replaced Leonard Martins Neiva, who was sacked by the club in late December 2023.

Mbabazi’s first task will be to answer Vipers’ back-to-back defeats to table leaders BUL FC (3-2), and seven-time champions Express FC 2-0 on Saturday.

With newcomers NEC visiting St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende this Wednesday, Vipers on 24 points, eight behind BUL will hope to reduce the gap with a home victory.

The former Onduparaka FC, Mbarara City FC, Somalia National Team, Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Wakiso Giants, and Lweza FC coach has what it takes to steady the ship.

As a player, Mbabazi enjoyed a successful career, especially with KCCA FC and Scottish side St Patrick Athletic, where he’s regarded as a club great.

He also played in Vietnam at Ha Noi ACB and Binh Duong, before capping his playing career at Wandegeya FC.
