Newly appointed Vipers Soccer Club head coach Livingstone Mbabazi will be in the St. Mary’s Stadium dugout on Wednesday evening for the first time.
His debut at Kitende will be a Star Times Uganda Premier League game against a stubborn newcomer, NEC FC at 7 pm.
Despite Mbabazi finding the defending champions in a worrying state having lost both of their previous games, the tactician is not shaken.
“Fans love goals and goals win games. I know they (fans) expect the team to win all the time, and we shall try our level best,” Mbabazi noted in his first interview.
He added “It’s a big challenge, but it depends more on the players. I want to improve on their mental fitness because they’re okay physically.”
Arua Hill and Gaddafi play hosts to firing big guns
Bottom of the table and financially struggling Arua Hill SC will host 7 -time champions Express FC at Paridi Stadium, a side that defeated Vipers 2-0 in their previous game.
Having fielded only eight players in their heavy 7-1 loss to Kitara FC, the football and sports fraternity at large had worries about them playing another game short of legs.
However, news coming in from West Nile has it that the Red Eagles team will face a full squad at 4 pm as more players showed up for training.
The other match of the day will witness a Jinja derby between 13th-placed side Gaddafi and table leaders Bul FC at the Gaddafi Arena.
Having conceded five goals without an answer in their previous game against Maroons, Gaddafi will be out to defy all odds at 4 pm.
