Ten-man Vipers SC returned to winning form in the Uganda Premier League, defeating URA FC 2-0 at St Mary’s stadium on Thursday evening.
Despite the dismissal of left-back Isa Mubiru in the 78th minute, Vipers held on to earlier goals from forwards Eric Kambale and Abdul Lumala to secure the victory.
Former Express FC striker Eric Kambale put in a man of the match performanc, opening his account for the season, and could have scored more but was denied by URA goalkeeper Denis Otim.

Vipers coach Leonard Neiva praised his team’s resilience in the face of adversity. “We have shown our ability to play without one of our key players,” he said. “We managed to bounce back from our loss to KCCA FC, and we will continue to improve.”
Former KCCA player Allan Okello who joined Vipers made his hugely anticipated debut late in the second half.
Vipers didn’t have Yunus Ssentamu, Milton Karisa , Bright Anukani, Jack Komakech among others who had travelled with the Cranes for the World Cup Qualifiers and Neiva feels they have a number of players who can compete.
