- Kitara 0-2 Vipers
Vipers Sports Club have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League after a decisive 2-0 victory over Kitara FC on Wednesday evening at Royal Park.
With just one game left to play, the win sees the Venoms rise to 68 points, four ahead of second-placed NEC, securing their seventh league title in club history.
First-half pressure paid off early for Vipers when Gusto Mulongo capitalized on a goalkeeping error in the 14th minute. A spilt free kick from Kitara’s Faruku Yawe allowed Livingstone Mulondo to set up Mulongo for a composed finish, giving the visitors a crucial lead.
Despite controlling much of the first half, Vipers couldn’t extend their advantage, with close attempts from Allan Okello and Milton Karisa going wide.
But the second goal eventually came in the 70th minute when Karisa turned provider, heading the ball across goal for Yunus Sentamu to tap in from close range.

Kitara’s attempts to rally late were shut down by a disciplined and resolute Vipers defense, determined to hold onto their clean sheet and seal the title.
The win is a testament to a consistent and determined campaign under head coach John “Ayala” Luyinda and his assistant Fred Muhumuza.
Despite a hiccup in their previous outing against BUL, the Venoms showed resilience and focus to respond when it mattered most.
This latest triumph adds to Vipers’ growing legacy in Ugandan football, joining previous league successes in 2009/10, 2014/15, 2017/18, 2019/20, 2021/22, and 2022/23.
With the league title now secured, Vipers turn their attention to cup duties. They face Kitara again in the second leg of the Uganda Cup semi-finals, holding a 1-0 advantage from the first leg.
Their final league fixture will be a celebratory home match against Bright Stars, where the champions will look to put the finishing touches on a memorable season in front of their jubilant supporters.
Elsewhere, KCCA thumped Lugazi 5-0 in Lugogo, BUL edged Maroons 1-0, and NEC away from home managed to clinch a narrow win against last season’s Champions, SC Villa.
Uganda Premier League action will continue tomorrow when Police host UPDF in Kavumba at 4 PM.
