Vipers SC, reigning Uganda Premier League champions, have partnered with Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC in a strategic move to boost their presence in women’s football.
The deal, confirmed this week, makes Kawempe Muslim Ladies, the second-place finishers in the just-ended Women Super League season, the official women’s team affiliated with Vipers SC.
The partnership comes as Vipers ends its two-year association with Wakiso Hill WFC, who were relegated last season.
“This partnership reinforces our commitment to growing both the men’s and women’s game in Uganda,” said a Vipers SC official.
The alliance helps Vipers meet FUFA’s requirement for Uganda Premier League clubs to field a women’s team in either the Women Super League or the Women Elite League.
Likewise, the Women Super League mandates that each team be affiliated with a men’s club from the top three divisions, making the partnership mutually beneficial.
Kawempe Muslim Ladies, one of the most successful women’s clubs in the country, will also play in the FUFA Women’s Cup final against Amus College WFC on June 28.
