Vipers SC threw away a lead on two occasions as they shared spoils with Maroons FC in a 2-2 draw in the Uganda Premier League at the Luzira Prisons grounds on Wednesday.

Milton Karisa netted in both halves for the guests, while Fred Amaku and Fredrick Kigozi netted for the Prison Warders.

The result left Vipers in fourth with 30 points while Maroons ascended to sixth on the table with 27 points.

The Venoms started the game brightly and their pressure was rewarded with a ninth-minute goal with Karisa finishing off a clean Bright Anukani pass.

The hosts then responded with a string of attacks and eventually, Amaku struck in the 19th minute past custodian Fabien Mutombora.

Vipers nearly added a second immediately after the restart, but Karisa’s stinging shot sailed inches wide.

In the 71st minute, Karisa completed his brace, rather expertly with a half-volley that evaded goalkeeper Emmanuel Akol for Vipers’ second.

At the death, Kigozi stole a point for the hosts after stabbing a loose ball past Mutombora.

While Vipers will return to action against Blacks Power FC at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday, ten days later, Maroons will visit the latter.
