Vipers SC will have the opportunity to pile pressure on table leaders BUL FC when they host Kitara FC in a top-of-the-table clash in the Uganda Premier League on Thursday, December 7th, at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, at 7:00PM.

Vipers are currently second with 20 points, five adrift of BUL. A win against Kitara will see them close the gap to just two points, reigniting their title challenge.

They go into this match on the back of two consecutive victories, defeating UPDF and URA, and coach Leonard Neiva has urged his players to maintain their winning form.

“We are at home and we can use that as an advantage. We have to keep winning like we have done in the previous games. We know our opponents are good but we have to show our ability and potential,” noted Neiva.

However, Kitara are no pushovers. Sitting just one point behind Vipers, they have their own sights set on the top spot.

Riding high after a confidence-boosting 1-0 win over NEC in their last game, coach Brian Ssenyondo believes his team has the quality and depth to overcome the challenge posed by Vipers.

This encounter will be extra special for several players. Midfielder Najib Yiga, on loan from Vipers, will be unable to face his parent club, while Vipers will face their former players Paul Mucureezi and Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye.

Coach Brian Ssenyondo believes the 1-0 victory over NEC in their previous game is going to motivate them to perform better.

“We come into this game off a good result we picked at home last weekend and want to carry that confidence to the St Mary’s stadium against Vipers.”

“The opponent we play is a good one but we have quality plus depth in our squad and trust the lads will put up a good fight on the pitch,”stated Ssenyondo.

Additionally, Kitara will welcome back Donato Okello after a three-match suspension that kept him out against NEC.

In an earlier fixture at 4:00PM, 12th placed Gaddafi FC will host UPDF FC who are a position below, two points behind.
