The FUFA Women Super League kicked off Matchday 3 on Saturday with three games as Lady Doves suffered their first loss, Wakiso Hill WFC made history, Kawempe Muslim drew, and climaxed on Sunday with two other games, Kampala Queens earned a slim win while Rines SS WFC picked up their first point of the season.

Lady Doves 0 vs 1 Uganda Martyrs WFC

In Masindi, Lady Doves started on a high note as they were awarded a penalty in the early minutes of the game, but goalkeeper Sharon Kaidu saved the penalty to keep the game all square.

The first half ended goalless before defender Rebecca Nandhego netted the opener for the visitors with a long range shot which turned out to be a winning goal. The strike is Nandhego’s first ever league goal.

This was Uganda Martyrs’ second consecutive win this season while Lady Doves tasted defeat for the first time this season.

Wakiso Hill 3 vs 1 Asubo Ladies

At St Mary’s Stadium Kitende, Wakiso Hill registered a historical first league win after beating Asubo Ladies 3-1 to hand them their third consecutive loss.

Zaitun Namaganda and Slyvia Namiwanda netted a goal each in the first half of the game to put the hosts in a well-deserved lead.

Into the second half, Amoding Aziza pulled one back for the visitors to bring back hopes. However, in the added minutes, youngster Patricia Nayiga headed home to make it 3-1 and sealed the Club’s first ever win in topflight football.

She Maroons 0 vs 0 Kawempe Muslim

Meanwhile, in Luzira, Kawempe Muslim goalkeeper Juliet Adeke was on the lips of the fans after making incredible multiple saves that helped her team grab a point from stubborn She Maroons who bossed the game in both halves.

She Maroons and Kawempe Muslim remained unbeaten, however, the latter have won two games whereas the former have won only one. The Valley Warriors have seven points and stayed top of standings going into Sunday’s games.

Kampala Queens 1 vs 0 UCU Lady Cardinals

At MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, captain Zaina Namuleme‘s first half goal was enough as Kampala Queens defeated UCU Lady Cardinals to get back to winning ways following a 2-2 draw in their previous league game against She Makerere FC.

Namuleme scored towards the end of the first half when she fired home with a half volley inside the box and her goal managed to help the home side secure three points to dislodge Kawempe Muslim and go on top of the table.

UCU, on the other hand, remain winless in their opening three fixtures and are yet to score a goal this season.

The departure of star strikers Ashiat Naluggwa and Sharon Nadunga has clearly had a negative impact on the team, and it may cost them dearly in the first round of the season.

She Makerere 1 vs 1 Rines SS

In the other game played on Sunday, Rines SS WFC fought to come from a goal down to share spoils with She Makerere.

Noeline Namiro had put She Makerere in the lead in the first half of the game but Jesca Namanda leveled the game from the spot as Rines grabbed a point from the hosts, and their first point this season.

Rines had lost the two opening games 3-2 and 3-0 to Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs respectively.

On matchday three, a total of 8 goals were scored, two home teams won their games, only Uganda Martyrs registered a win on the road and two games ended all square.
