Wanuume takes goal tally to six as Kampala University progress to UFL Quarterfinals

Gilbert Wanuume’s performance in the game between Kampala University (KU) and Kampala International University (KIU) was pivotal in securing KU’s 2-1 victory at the YES Center in Nsambya on Tuesday evening.

His early goal in the 8th minute, along with Joseph Kimera’s contribution, put KU in a commanding position.

Despite KIU’s fight back in the second half, with Kenneth Mpiima’s 77th-minute goal, KU’s defence stood strong, sealing the win and ensuring their spot in the Pepsi University Football League quarterfinals.

With the results of all Group D games decided on the same day, Bugema University topped the group with 13 points after their 1-1 draw with Gulu University.

Kampala University followed closely in second place with 12 points. Gulu, with 8 points, and KIU, with just 1 point, were eliminated, leading to fan frustration at KIU.
