After his recent move to NEC FC, Ugandan defender Warren Buule has spoken out about his transfer from Bright Stars, calling it “the right decision at the right time.” Buule, a seasoned player known for his defensive prowess, joins the promising NEC FC squad with big ambitions, including a run in the CAF Confederation Cup.
In a recent interview with Nnalubaale Sports, Buule expressed his gratitude and excitement about the transfer. “I thank God for giving me the ability to make the right decision because joining NEC FC is like adding to my family,” he said. He highlighted the welcoming environment, praising the “good coaches” and players who “enhance every player’s potential.”
Buule brings a wealth of experience, having been a consistent performer in the Uganda Premier League for five years. “In Uganda, where they talk about good defenders, I am among them,” he stated, underlining his confidence.
He spent four years at Buikwe Red Star in the lower leagues before a five-year stint with Bright Stars. This move to NEC FC represents a “win-win situation” for both him and the club, as he aims to use his skills to help the team grow.
The defender’s arrival is part of a broader strategy by NEC FC to bolster their squad for the upcoming season. The club has also signed other experienced players like Mustafa Kiiza and Daniel Shabena, specifically to strengthen the team ahead of its continental campaign.
Buule joins a formidable defensive lineup, including Jacob Okao, Patrick Bayiga, Geriga Atendele, and Ibrahim Kiyemba, among others, creating a solid backline.
With the new season kicking off next month, NEC FC is preparing for a busy schedule, competing in the Confederation Cup, Uganda Premier League, and the Uganda Cup. Their CAF Confederation Cup journey begins with a two-legged preliminary round clash against Nairobi City on September 19 and 21.
