Newly appointed Mbarara City FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa has made winger Joseph Akandwanaho his first-ever signing with the club.
The left-footed attacker was unveiled by the Ankole Lions on Saturday, putting an end to rumours of a pending move.
“Welcome to Mbarara City, Akandanwanaho Joseph,” the club announced, revealing that the player had “penned a two-year contract with the Ankole Lions”
The pacy winger saw out his contract with Express FC at the end of last season under head coach James Odoch.
Akandwanaho comes in as a replacement for skipper Jude Ssemugabi, who reportedly departed the club as his contract expired in June.
Besides Express, Akandwanaho has previously featured for Nyamityobora Football Club and Soltilo Bright Stars.
He comes with experience in the topflight as he has accumulated 73 appearances across three seasons, with the past two coming at Express
Mbarara City made a return to the Uganda Premier League having finished second in the Big League, behind leaders Kitara FC.
