Hassan Zzungu kept it simple and focused as Uganda completed their final training session in Harare, one day before the semi-final against Benin at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.
โThe last training was good. The response from the players is good,โ Zzungu said. โThe attitude is right, and we shall go to fight for a win. We have looked at Benin and planned accordingly. The players are positive, and we are ready.โ

Uganda, represented by St Maryโs Kitende, face a Benin side that has battled its way into the last four. It sets up a tough contest, with the winner advancing to Fridayโs final. In the other semi-final, Morocco will face Senegal.
Team captain Livingstone Kulata expects a difficult match despite Ugandaโs strong form. โWe have trained well ahead of the game. Benin worked hard to get here, so it will be challenging. But we are ready to fight and eliminate them,โ he said.
Ugandaโs run to the semi-finals has been convincing. They topped Group A with seven points, scoring ten goals and conceding once.
They opened with a 1-1 draw against hosts Zimbabwe before hitting top gear. A dominant 6-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo followed, with Owen Mukisa scoring a hat-trick, while Musa Kironde, Ivan Kakinda and Emmanuel Opio were also on target.
Uganda then sealed top spot with a 3-0 win over Morocco. Lucky Wanyama scored twice, and Mukisa added another to continue his fine form.
The numbers exhibit Ugandaโs strength, but Zzungu is not dwelling on them.
