In life, marking 25 years of growth is no mean feat. And in Ugandan sports, for a club to survive that long calls for celebration.
This was evident again as Weatherhead Hockey Club held their Silver Jubilee celebrations on Saturday at Royal Suites Bugolobi.
In attendance were current and former players, fans, well-wishers and potential sponsors as the club managed to sell merchandise worth Ushs 2m.
However, top of the dinner’s agenda was the idea of securing a four and above acres size piece of land to build a facility that will house the club in the near future.
This will be a big move in the right direction as the sport routinely find it hard to use the Lugogo National Hockey Grounds when highest bidders join the queue.
The reigning men League and Uganda Cup champions are pushing for another successful season both on and off the pitch.
