D-Mark Power received a walkover in their unplayed match against Mukono side UCU Canons in the National Basketball League on Friday.

The two were set to tussle it out at the MTN Arena Lugogo in a hugely anticipated encounter, and both sides indeed turned up, only for Power to win without breaking sweat.

What went wrong for UCU Canons?

UCU Canons, the home team, donned a blue outfit, colours which clashed with Power’s.

This returned to haunt the Canons as according to the rules, the home team is supposed to wear light colours as the dark ones are reserved for the visitors.

And, in application of the rules, the umpires and the match commissioners decided to hand D-Mark Power a 20-00 victory.

UCU Canons raged

UCU Canons feel there was a misunderstanding in determining which team was home or away for the bout.

In the first round, as UCU won 81-50, the boards indicated they were the home team.

On those particular grounds, Power were automatically the home team in the second round, and thus, the latter should have suffered the Friday defeat instead.
