2025/26 Uganda Premier League | MD 17 | Fixtures | Thursday February 19,

  • Kitara FC Vs URA – Royal Park, Butema | 4 pm

Thursday evening could reshape the Uganda Premier League title race, Kitara step onto the turf knowing a win could lift them to the summit after leaders Vipers SC dropped points earlier in the week.

The Royals host URA FC at Royal Park in Butema at 4pm, carrying belief and pressure.

Vipers were held to a 1-1 draw by NEC on Tuesday in Kitende, leaving Kitara three points behind with a chance to close the gap. The door is open. Now they must walk through it.

Kitara arrive in strong form. They are unbeaten in five matches, winning four, including three in a row.

Their latest result, a disciplined 1-0 away victory over Maroons showed a side growing in confidence and composure in tight games.

URA, however, may be dangerous because they are desperate. Coached by Hussein Mbalangu, the Tax Collectors are winless in seven matches and struggling for goals.

With 14 points from 16 games, they are hovering near the relegation zone, unfamiliar territory for a club of their stature. Another defeat would deepen the pressure.

There is added intrigue with former Kitara players Ronald Otti and Fred Amaku returning to face their old side. Motivation will not be lacking.

Kitara will again look to Jimmy Sakalema and Patrick Kaddu to lead the attack, while talk of Muhammad Shaban’s involvement adds to the anticipation.

For the Royals, this is more than just another match, it is a chance to confirm themselves as genuine contenders.

Recent meetings slightly favour Kitara, with three wins in the last six against URA, who have two victories, plus one draw.

But form and history will count for little once the whistle blows. Win, and Kitara could climb to the top. Slip, and the race tightens perhaps giving URA the spark they need to revive their season.

Elsewhere, SC Villa host Maroons FC under the lights at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba, as match day 17 wraps up.
