The 2023/24 FUFA Women Super League matchday three continues today with two games as winless UCU Lady Cardinals visit Kampala Queens in Lugogo and She Makerere takes on Rines SS WFC.

Kampala Queens vs. UCU Lady Cardinals

This will be the eighth meeting between UCU Lady Cardinals and Kampala Queens, and the Queens of soccer have won five, drawn once, and lost once. Last season, Kampala Queens defeated UCU Lady Cardinals home and away.

In the first two opening games, Kampala Queens have collected four out of six possible points, while UCU Lady Cardinals have only one point, which they got after a goaless draw with Lady Doves in the opening game before losing 1-0 to Kawempe in the previous game.

UCU Lady Cardinals captain Shadia Nankya is doubtful for the game after limping off with the Crested Cranes on Tuesday. Fazila Ikwaput, who scored two goals in the previous game, will be looking to add to her tally.

Kampala Queens head coach Charles Ssenyage Kadidi expects a tough game but believes his team can win.

“We dropped vital points in the previous game and we don’t want that to happen again. The opponents haven’t won any game and they’ll do their best to make it against us but we’re going to work extremely hard to overcome them and take the three points.”

She Makerere vs. Rines SS WFC

The second game of the day will be between Rines SS WFC and She Makerere. Rines SS WFC have lost two of their opening games, losing 3-2 and 3-0 to Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs respectively.

The hosts defeated Wakiso Hill 1-0 in the opening game before they dramatically came two goals down to share spoils with Kampala Queens in a 2-2 draw in their last game.

This will be the third time the two sides are meeting, and Rines SS WFC have won all the two encounters, beating She Makerere 2-1 and 3-1 away and at home respectively last season.

Rines SS WFC will rely on Aminah Nababi, who was their best player last season and is a former player for She Makerere.
