Philip Wokorach has added another milestone to his career, earning the Emerging Player of the Season award in the inaugural 2025 India Rugby Premier League.
Playing for the Bengaluru Bravehearts, the Ugandan backline star stood out in the six-team competition with his pace, vision, and all-around brilliance. He scored twelve tries in twelve matches, finishing second on the tournament’s try-scorers list, behind MVP Vaafauese Apelu Maliko’s fifteen.
Wokorach wasn’t just about finishing. He set up five tries, delivered seventeen offloads, and kicked two conversions, amassing 64 points, the fourth-highest in the league. His influence helped Bengaluru secure a third-place finish in the round-robin stage, though they missed out on a medal in the playoffs.
The only blemish on his campaign was a group-stage yellow card, but it hardly dented his standout run.
For his performance, Wokorach earned a ₹300,000 (UGX 12.6 million) prize and cemented his status as one of the league’s breakout stars.
With talks of a second season underway, he’s already being tipped for marquee player consideration, proof that his star continues to rise, now on Indian soil.
