Women Cricket League Division 2 had two games on the menu over the weekend with away teams coming out on top.
St John’s SS Mukono visited JACC in Jinja and picked up their first win of the season in remarkable fashion.
St John’s won the toss and opted to bat first setting a target score of 117 runs for 9 wickets in 30 overs.
In the second innings, JACC failed to chase as the home side only managed to gunner 34 runs in 22.5 over with no wicket standing.
St. John’s Irene Mutonyi who picked six wickets from 5.5 overs was the woman of the match.
On Bombo road, Ndejje SSS hosted Jinja SSS with the visiting team coming out on top in a students affair.
Ndejje won the toss and elected to bat first collecting a total of 69 runs from 30 overs at the expense of 9 wickets.
The second innings had Jinja chasing and managed to score 70 runs for 3 wickets in 17.3 overs to register a 7 wickets victory.
Jinja’s Caroline Abalakake was the top bowler picking 4 wickets hence scooping the woman of the match accolade.
The top batswomen were; Hope Shilah Mbeiza (33), Rukia Namuleme (15) from Jinja SSS while Ndejje’s Courtney Namubiru had 15 runs not out.
The win saw Jinja maintain their spot at the top of the table as they continue to vie for a promotion to the top flight.
