YMCA Comprehensive Institute will be looking for their first win in the 2022 Pepsi University Football League when they host Makerere University.
YMCA head into Thursday’s game at Buwambo occupying the third place with just two points on the board.
They suffered a 1-0 defeat to the same opponent in their first game in the current edition. But, YMCA head coach Allan Katwe believes they will pull off a positive result this time round.

“This is a very important game and anything short of a win will leave us in danger of failing to go past the group stage level,β Katwe spoke to Nnalubaale Sports on Wednesday.
“We have been playing well but we have been unfortunate in front of the goal.”
“Looking at how we played against Makerere at their home, I am optimistic that we shall win this game because we had a good display and the goal we conceded was a penalty.”

On the other hand, Makerere will be all but certain about qualifying to the knockout stages, should they win the encounter.
And, head coach William Kasozi is aware his side can not afford any slip-up if they are to ascend from the Group.
“We are also not yet through to the next stage despite leading the group, so we know how important the three points against YMCA are.β

βThe team in the second position is just two behind us. That means, we have to win on Thursday so that we stretch our lead on top,β Kasozi added.
Makerere at the top has seven points with St. Lawrence University in second on five. YMCA has two in third with Mbarara University of Science and Technology last with just a point.
In the other game of the group, the latter will face St. Lawrence University on Wednesday, 25th May at Kavule.
