Youngsters scoop USPA best of December award

Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) voted Kibuli Secondary School and Mbogo High School Badminton teams as the outstanding sports personalities for the month of December 2022.

This was during yesterday’s monthly Uganda sports scribes assembly held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

The two schools were brilliant, winning gold in the All-Africa Schools Badminton Championship in Rose Hill City, Mauritius.

Samuel Wasswa, Akbar Nooh Oduka, Ahmed Nooh Oduka and Aaron Ndawula with coach Muguluma Joshua formed Kibuli team while Nazifah Nakiyemba, Sharifa Mbabazi and Swabra Nanyombi with William Kabindi as coach were for Mbogo High.

They jointly pooled a total of 235 points, ahead of Ndejje University (210 points) and the Uganda Motocross Team (205 points).

Ndejje University won the East Africa University Games for the 7th consecutive time while, the Uganda Motocross team clinched the East and Central African title in Nairobi, Kenya.

In the other news, USPA members underwent an educative session in the sport of rugby by the Uganda Rugby Union Training and Education Manager Saudah Adiru Jamilah.

USPA president Moses Ali Sayed Lubega noted the need to get on board more corporate partnerships so that the association activities are not interrupted at any time.

At the same event, the former General Secretary Johnson Were handed over the tools of power officially to the new office bearer Clive Kyazze.
