All eyes will be on star forward Zaina Namuleme as Kenya Police Bullets gear up to face former club Kampala Queens FC and debutants FC Denden of Eritrea in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers.
The draw, held Tuesday in Nairobi, placed the FUFA Women Super League champions in Group A, setting up a highly anticipated clash with regional rivals Police Bullets and first-timers Denden, who earned special CECAFA clearance to participate.
This year’s qualifiers feature nine teams across three groups:
• Group B: Defending champions Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Top Girls Academy (Burundi), and Rayon Sports Women FC (Rwanda).
• Group C: 2024 winners JKT Queens (Tanzania), Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan), and JKU Princess FC (Zanzibar).
For Kampala Queens, the tournament is a chance at redemption. In the 2023 edition hosted in Uganda, they crashed out in the group stage despite a stellar showing from former striker Fazila Ikwaput, who won the Golden Boot with eight goals.
This time, they’ll rely on Namuleme’s firepower and a revitalized squad to push further.
The qualifiers run from September 4 to 16, 2025, with matches at Nyayo Stadium and Ulinzi Complex in Nairobi.
Participating Teams: Kampala Queens FC (Uganda), Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (Ethiopia), Kenya Police Bullets (Kenya), Top Girls Academy FC (Burundi), Rayon Sports Women FC (Rwanda), Yei Joint Stars FC (South Sudan), JKT Queens (Tanzania), FC Denden (Eritrea), JKU Princess FC (Zanzibar).
