The 2023 Buganda Masaza Cup kicked off in colorful fashion on Saturday, June 24, at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi, who was welcomed by a sea of red, blue, and white.

The fan fest Twaake experience featured traditional musical instruments and dances, and was capped off by a performance from musician-cum-politician Hilderman.

At half time, the Member of Parliament Hilary Kiyaga performed his hit songs for the Kabaka much to the applause of the King’s subjects and guests.

Away from the colourful launch powered by Kansai Plascon, the Mawokota Ssaza football team recovered from a goal down to beat Busiro 3-1.

The goal thriller in front of a big crowd had four different scorers on the day as the battle to show your colour went down.

Abubaker Mayanja, John Innocent Kisolo, and Calvin Peter Emayo found the goals for Mawokota while Akram Muzanyi scored Busiro’s only goal, a penalty.
