Week 3 of the 2024 Masaza Cup Football Tournament was full of surprises, with Bugerere and Mawogola upsetting established giants and now the action returns with 8 outings.
Muganzirwazza group
One of the biggest matchups of Week 4 will be the clash between Ssingo and Kyaggwe at Mityana Ssaza ground on Sunday, July 21st. Both teams are currently tied at the top of the Muganzirwazza group with 7 points.
Ssingo under the stewardship of Simon Peter Mugerwa will be looking to attackers Shaban Kayongo and Joseph Ssewali to lead the charge, supported by the talented trio of Elvis Ssekajugo, Charles Batibwe, and Calvin Peter Emayu.
Despite facing a tough opponent, Kyaggwe shouldn’t be underestimated. Led by coach Steven Mutono Katono and assistant Jimmy Kintu, Kyaggwe boasts its own goal-scoring threats in Yusuf Mukwana, Isaac Ofoyrwoth, and Geoffrey Gaganga. Mukwana, like Ssewali and Kayongo, has already netted two goals in three games.
Mukwana, like Ssewali and Kayongo, has already registered two goals in three games making the clash boost three top scorers of this year’s tournament so far.
In other games of the Muganzirwazza, two giants in record champions Gomba and Buwekula are expected to end their early struggles of the compaign.
At Kabulasoke, Gomba shall host Kooki in their expected easiest challenge of the campaign after losing 3 straight games while Kooki is with just a point gained at home from Buwekula.
Buwekula will also be looking to break their winless streak when they take on Mawogola. Despite scoring the first goal away to Kyaggwe last weekend, they could only manage a 1-1 draw, extending their run of three consecutive draws. Buwekula faces a tough challenge against Mawogola, a team currently sitting comfortably with 6 points from 3 games.
Masengere group
Originally planned for this weekend, the match between Busiro and Buvuma in the Masengere group has been postponed to August 4th due to an unfortunate accident involving Busiro County while returning from Kabula.
On Saturday, July 20th, 2024, leaders Busujju travel to Lutoboka to face Ssese in the opening match of Week 4. This will be Busujju’s second consecutive game on the island.
Mawokota, fresh off their victory against Ssese, will look to continue their winning streak as they take on Kabula.
Bulange Group
Buddu, struggling after two losses and one win, faces a crucial match against Buluuli in Kakooge. Coach Simon Dungu’s job may be on the line with a poor performance.
Boasting two wins and a draw, Buluuli – coached by Anthony Bongole leads the group with a strong showing. They are eagerly awaiting Buddu’s visit.
Tense Matchup Between Bulemeezi and Kyadondo
The fight for survival continues in the group with Bulemeezi hosting Kyadondo. Bulemeezi, seeking to consolidate a turnaround after losing their opening two games, faces a tough opponent in Kyadondo.
Led by Medi Nyanzi, Bulemeezi’s former coach, Kyadondo will be looking to pile more misery on the defending champions and improve their recent form. They haven’t scored in their last 180 minutes of play.
Butambala Seeks Home Advantage Against Bugerere
Butambala, coached by Mustafa Kayinda, returns home after losing both their Bombo road matches. They will look to replicate their opening week win against Buddu, with Yusuf Kato aiming to add to his goal tally.
