The Cricket Cranes have one leg into the semifinals of the ACA T20 Africa Cup after their 51-run win over Mozambique on Friday.
The win, Uganda’s second keeps them top of the table in Group A, but they will have to wait for other games to get done for them to confirm progress to the semifinals.
With four points, and a superior net run rate of 1.676, Uganda currently holds the advantage in Group A, however, with both Rwanda and Malawi having at least a game to go, their fate is somewhat not in their hands.

Should Rwanda-the only team in the group left with two games- lose to Malawi, Uganda and these two teams will all finish with four points, that’s assuming Rwanda beats Mozambique in their last game.

This will mean the group will be determined by the net run rate, and only the top two with a better NRR will progress to the semifinals.
The Cricket Cranes do have a better NRR, but to keep away from the run rate drama, Uganda needs Rwanda to win all its remaining two games for them to progress to the next stage.
Uganda have themselves in this promising position after beating Mozambique in a game Henry Senyondo won the Player of the Match award.
Uganda over come Mozambique despite slow start
Ssenyondo picked four wickets, but Uganda also had Frank Nsubuga get three.

Uganda didn’t have the best of starts to the game! Ronak Patel, Simon Ssesazi and Riazat Ali Shah who was playing his first game at this competition all didn’t stay to see the game beyond power play.
Roger Mukasa, however, orchestrated the comeback for the Cricket Cranes, first with his partnership with Robinson Obuya and Alpesh Ramjani. Obuya put to board a total of 24 runs while Ramjani posted 32. Mukasa ended the game with 45, five shy of a half century.
The three inspired their team to a decent score of 149 that Senyondo and co backed up with their brilliant bowling.
Uganda will now have to wait until Sunday to find out it if they’ve booked a place in the semis.
