Lugazi FC’s hopes of leapfrogging table leaders Police FC in the FUFA Big League were dashed on Friday as they settled for a 1-1 draw with Kaaro Karungi in Ibanda.

Despite taking the lead through Brian Ssali‘s free kick just before halftime, captain Ian Amanya equalized for the home side from the spot.

This result leaves Lugazi in second place with 25 points, two points adrift of leaders Police who had earlier drawn with Kigezi Homeboyz

Coach Richard Makumbi, who has a proven track record of guiding teams like Mbarara City and Vipers (formerly Bunamwaya) to promotion, remains confident in his team’s ability.

“We are going to make sure we fight hard to achieve our goals,” Makumbi stated. “I know it’s not easy, but we will give our best and showcase our talent in every game.”
