St. Mary’s Kitende to face Prosper SA in the FUFA Academies League final

The future of Ugandan football will be on display this Sunday at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku when Prosper Soccer Academy and St. Mary’s Kitende SA will face off in the inaugural FUFA Academies League final.

The final that will kick-off at 3pm brings together the top teams from the Kampala and Buganda Region groups after their 18-match campaigns of pure raw talent.

Prosper Soccer Academy finished top of the Kampala Region group with 51 points from 18 matches. They recorded 15 wins, including five by a margin of two goals, alongside one draw and two defeats. Prosper scored 41 goals and conceded 10 for a goal difference of +32.

St. Mary’s Kitende SA topped the Buganda Region group with 57 points from 18 matches. They registered 14 wins, including 12 by a margin of two goals, three draws and one defeat. Kitende scored 64 goals and conceded 17 for a goal difference of +47.

The statistics underline Kitende’s attacking strength, with their 64 goals the highest tally recorded by any team in the two groups. Prosper, meanwhile, had the stronger defensive record, conceding just 10 goals compared to Kitende’s 17.

Kitende also have one of the competition’s leading scorers in Katerega John Mary, who has scored 17 goals. He is second in the scoring chart behind El-Cambio Academy’s Kasumba Angello on 23 goals. Rays Of Grace Academy’s Kiganda Ivan is third with 15, while Isra Soccer Academy’s Ssenyange Latif has 14.

The competition awards four points for a win by a margin of two goals, making the W+ figures an important part of the finalists’ group-stage records.
