Kutchi Tigers CC eased past Tornado Cricket Club in both their morning and afternoon matches of the ongoing UG20 2026 on Sunday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.
The Tigers secured an 86-run victory in their first encounter of the day. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kutchi Tigers CC posted 182/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Mitul Pindoriya top-scored with 41 off 30 balls, while Cyrus Kakuru added 31 off 21 balls and Hasin Ashani finished unbeaten on 30 off 17 balls.
Jaffer Ochaya was the pick of the Tornado CC bowlers, taking three wickets, while Sulaiman Mwebaze and Kassim Adam claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Tornado CC could only manage 96/7 in their 20 overs. Mwebaze led the chase with 44 runs off 57 balls, supported by Lawrence Ssempijja (18) and Amir Ochaya (14).
Kush Mahesh Vekariya was the standout bowler for the Tigers, claiming three wickets, while Dhansuk Jesani chipped in with two.
Returning after the break for the afternoon match, the Tigers again won the toss, elected to bat first, and secured a resounding 154-run victory.
They posted a massive 289/4 in their 20 overs. Avnish Vekariya was the standout batter, smashing an unbeaten 133 off 58 balls. Nitin Jeshani added 99 off 42 balls, while Cyrus Kakuru contributed 21 off 12 balls.
“It was a good day for us. In the second game, we scored nearly 290 runs, and I was able to contribute 133 myself. This win significantly boosts our net run rate, especially after losing two games and having another washed out earlier in the tournament,” afternoon Player of the Match Avnish told Nnalubaale Sports.
Despite clumsy fielding and erratic bowling, Mwebaze and Abdulhakim Lugasa managed to claim two wickets each for Tornado CC.
With the bat, Tornado CC was restricted to 135/9 in their 20 overs. Mwebaze top-scored for them once again with 48 off 49 balls, while Lawrence Ssempijja remained unbeaten on 47 off 29 balls.
For the Tigers, Ashani led the bowling attack with four wickets, while Mitul Pindoriya, Kush Mahesh Vekariya, Ghanshyam Halai, and Steven Wabwose took one wicket each.
