The Uganda Premier League’s three-week break, following an extended international window, comes to an end on Wednesday afternoon with four games.
Matchday five of the league was paused to allow the Uganda Cranes to feature in two crucial AFCON Pamoja 2027 qualifiers (a 1-1 draw against Tunisia and a 1-0 victory over Libya), as well as back-to-back friendlies against DR Congo in South Africa.
Back on Pearl of Africa soil, record champions SC Villa will be out to build on their recent 3-0 victory over Kigezi HomeBoyz as they travel east to face top-tier debutants Kataka FC at the BCS Complex in Bukedea.
Kataka are among five teams still searching for their first win of the campaign, having narrowly lost 1-0 to KCCA FC despite a resilient performance just before the break.
Three other fixtures will also be played today. Another winless side, Kitara FC, will host Kigezi HomeBoyz at the Hoima City Stadium.
Elsewhere, Maroons FC will welcome Lugazi FC to the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, while Mbarara City travel to face Ntugasaze at the Police Arena on Kira Road.
Action will resume on Thursday with Kansai Plascon-powered and defending champions Vipers SC facing a stern test on the road against a high-flying Blacks Power FC side.
Having returned to the top flight in spectacular fashion, Blacks Power have claimed three victories in their opening four matches and will host the champions at the Hoima City Stadium.
On the same day, another Plascon-powered side, NEC FC, renews rivalries with Express FC at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, while a perfect BUL FC side visits UPDF FC at the Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
Matchday 5 will then conclude on Friday, October 9, 2026, with an exciting double-header at the Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo, featuring the second game under the floodlights.
The early kickoff features Entebbe UPPC and Police FC at 5:00 PM. This will pave the way for the biggest fixture of the week at 8:00 PM, where four-time league champions URA FC host KCCA FC in what promises to be a thrilling tactical showdown under the lights.
