Day five of the UG20 2026 belonged to Wanderers Cricket Club skipper Ivan Kakande, who was named Player of the Match twice.
The left-handed batsman registered the most runs in both the morning and afternoon games while also picking up key wickets at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday.
Kakande won the toss in the morning encounter and elected to bat first, posting 135/6 in their 20 overs. He top-scored for his club with 35 off 29 balls, hitting five fours.
He received support from Adonia Waibale, who added 28 off 30 balls, while Julius Okema contributed 19 off 26 and Eric Mukisa made 16 off 15.
In defense, Edwin Nuwagaba was the pick of the Mukono Development bowlers with 2/24, while Kenneth Ogenerwot, Eric Matovu, London Muhanguzi, and Christian Mulindwa took one wicket each.
Back on the field for the second innings, Mukono Development were bowled out for 101 in 19.3 overs, thus securing a 34-run victory for Wanderers.
Edwin Nuwagaba led the chase with a half-century of 54 off 44 balls, including six fours and two sixes, while Victor Mugisha added 10.
Wanderers CC’s bowling attack was led by Loykeen Bamuturaki, who took 3/0 in 1.3 overs. Eric Mukisa also claimed 3/28, while Ivan Kakande took 2/12 and Mark Ruhweza chipped in with one wicket.
After lunch, Mukono’s poor start to their UG20 2026 campaign continued with a second defeat of the day, losing to Wanderers CC by 84 runs at the same venue.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wanderers posted 159/4 in their revised 16 overs. Kakande smashed a quick half-century of 52 off 26 balls, including 10 fours.
He got valuable support from Eric Mukisa, who added an unbeaten 36 off 23 balls, while Edgar Mudoola contributed 30 off 24 balls.
In reply, Mukono Development managed 57/9 in 11.5 overs after their target was revised to 142 following a rain interruption.
London Muhanguzi top-scored with 19 off 14 balls, while Kenneth Ogenerwot added seven and Arafat Lule remained unbeaten on seven.
Wanderers’ bowling attack was led by Loykeen Bamuturaki and Waheed Abdul Sserwadda, who claimed two wickets each.
