Uganda’s badminton team will return home with four decorations around their necks from the just concluded 2023 All Africa Senior championship down in South Africa.
Shamika Fadilah Mohammed won a gold medal while Husina Kobugabe secured two bronze medals. Gladys Mbabazi and Brian Kasiyre each scooped a bronze medal to complete the hunt.
After falling short in the team events, the focus was put on individual glory and Uganda national badminton team head coach Ivan Karimunda‘s charges delivered.
The team composed of ten players; four females and six males competed from the 13th to the 19th of February (yesterday evening) and was captained by Amos Muyanja.
The team had a camp at Ndejje University’s main campus in Luweero and the intensive residential training period did pay good dividends.
