Joshua Tukamuhebwa, the captain of the national boxing team has registered the most knockouts in the Uganda Boxing Champions League.
With hours before flying out to Birmingham, he promised to duplicate history by knocking out opponents at the ongoing event.
Fast forward, with the opening ceremony on yesterday, Uganda had their 7s rugby team in action first against Kenya but the Cranes fell short by a 27-14 score.
As the nation was yet to take in the bitter defeat, a few minutes away, the boxing skipper Tukamuhebwa was entering into the ring for the second action for team Uganda.
With the pressure to lead by example and also boost the morale in the camp of the Black, Yellow and Red and he did deliver the goods defeating John Paul Hale from Northern Ireland.
Tukamuhebwa won on a 3-2 split decision in a fight he landed a good number of heavy punches on John Paul Hale’s jaw.
