Bugema University bounced back from their opening day defeat to Uganda Martyrs University to thrash Kabale University 6-0 in a Group A match of the University Football League on Sunday.
Bugema University had lost 3-1 to Uganda Martyrs University in Nkozi in their opening game, but they managed to reorganize themselves to pick up their first victory of the season.
Eric Sawa, Isaac Ssenyunja, Swalfdin Ssebaale,Aziz Opio, Innocent Musuk and Derrick Musinguzi scored the goals for Bugema University, who picked up a valuable result at home.
Bugema’s victory leaves Group A open, with Uganda Martyrs top with six points after beating Bugema and the University of Kisubi 2-1 in their opening two games.
Bugema and Kabale each have three points, but Bugema is second due to a better goal difference. The University of Kisubi is bottom with no point.
The top two sides in the group will advance to the quarterfinals.
The league resumes on Tuesday as UCU hosts Busitema in Mukono. UCU beat Kumi University 2-0 in their opening game away and have a chance to register their first win at home this season.
