Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) once again proved their dominance in university football, delivering a commanding 3-0 victory over St. Lawrence University in a one-sided University Football League final at Wankulukuku Stadium on Sunday.

Entering the final unbeaten, the Nkozi-based outfit showed exactly why they carried the weight of expectation.

Calvin Peter Emayo opened the scoring in a lively first half, before Crispus Sseruwunge added a second, giving UMU a comfortable lead at the break.

St. Lawrence’s hopes of a comeback were swiftly dashed when Ronald Obedgiu struck early in the second half, sealing a third title for Uganda Martyrs and cementing their place as the league’s most successful side.

The victory was not only a repeat of their 2022 triumph over the same opponent but also a testament to UMU’s growing legacy, having now overtaken MUBS and Kampala University with three titles to their name.

For St. Lawrence, it was familiar heartbreak, falling short in their third final appearance, having previously lost to UCU in 2019 and UMU in 2022.

Earlier in the day, Bugema University edged out Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) 1-0 to claim third place, bringing a thrilling season to a close.
