Bugema University coach Medhi Nyanzi was left disappointed after his side settled to a 0-0 draw with Uganda Martyrs in a top-of-the-table clash in the University Football League (UFL) on Thursday.
“We feel disappointed that we didn’t win the game. We had so many chances created but failed to utilize them,” Nyanzi said.
“Our target was to finish top of the group but I believe it’s longer in our hands. But we shall fight hard to see that we are among the two sides that will finish among the best two second teams to qualify for the quarterfinals,” he added.
The tie, which had the second half played under heavy downpour, saw Uganda Martyrs remain top of Group A with 11 points while Bugema remained second with 10.
Uganda Martyrs defended resolutely to earn a point, despite Bugema’s Isaac Ssenyunja, Ali Ssentogo, and Innocent Masuk creating several chances.
Uganda Martyrs assistant coach Henry Bishop praised his players for their performance.
“It was not an easy game but we managed to put in a lot to walk away with a point. The pressure was high but my players managed to control it. We now know how to prepare for our next game against University of Kisubi,” Bishop said.
The UFL will resume on Friday with Ndejje hosting Muni University.
