The JKL Dolphins reigned supreme over Rwanda’s APR (Armée Patriotique Rwandaise), winning 75-58 to advance to the semi-finals of the 2023 FIBA Zone V Women’s Championship.

Brenda Ekone was the star of the night, marshalling 22 points, five rebounds and one assist, collecting help from Ritah Imanishimwe, who had 18 points (6 3 PM), a balanced 11 points and 12 rebounds double-double from NBL MVP Hope Akello, and a 10 points, 12 rebounds double-double from Becky Kerem Longom.

APR only had one lead in the game, an opening 3-pointer, after which JKL Dolphins took charge and didn’t look back, with their biggest lead being a 37-point lead, at 63-26 in the third quarter.

The 2023 NBL Champions will come up against Kenya Ports Authority in the semif-finals, with automatic qualification on the line.

A slot in the final will see the JKL Dolphins earn a spot in the 2023 FIBA Africa Women Championships, seeing as the top three teams will secure qualification for the tournament, set to happen in Egypt from December 8 to 17.
