Busitema University will host Kumi University in the University Football League on Wednesday, with both teams looking to bounce back from defeats in their previous matches.
Busitema were thrashed 7-1 by UCU, while Kumi lost 2-0 to Kampala International University.
Despite the heavy defeat, Busitema coach Abdulnoor Musisi is confident that his team can return to winning ways.
“Some of my players shed tears in disbelief, it was too much for my players, and I personally have never experienced such a humiliation in my coaching career, but we shall bounce back stronger,” Musisi said.
“It was tough obviously and you can’t just brush these things aside but we analysed the game and the goals and looked at how we can do better and improve. That’s the most important thing now is to move on by winning against Kumi”.
“10 years ago, Nkumba University beat Uganda Martyrs 11-0. Now Uganda Martyrs is the best team in League. Only 10 years have gone by, so I’m sure they learned from that defeat.”
“Everyone learns from their mistakes but you need to be strong to keep on going. I will bounce back even if I’m exposed to criticism or I’m defeated. If you don’t keep fighting, you’re a loser,” Musisi added.
Busitema had started the season on good note beating KIU at home before losing to UCU and Musisi believes the home advantage will be vital for them.
Kumi University have similar aspirations
Kumi University coach John Opam is also confident that his team can bounce back.
“I hope is to see the best version of Kumi University so there are no excuses from my side. We are already in a difficult situation,” Opam said.
Opam believes that his players have learned from their mistakes in the previous game.
“I’m confident, I’m calm with what I’ve seen so far. I know that every player is aware of what they didn’t do in the game in the physical aspect, in football terms and even emotionally,”.
“They are aware that they need to give a different performance against Busitema That’s what I’ve seen when working in the past days.”
“We’ve been talking, we’ve been working and I can see that we are willing to completely put up a different performance and not to repeat the mistakes that we had against KIU,” Opam added.
