Defending champions Uganda Christian University (UCU) twice came from behind to grind out a 2-2 draw away at Kumi University in the Pepsi University Football League on Friday.

Mary Aliga gave hosts Kumi a 12th minute lead but it was cancelled out by Geoffrey Gagganga just ten minutes later.

Aliga completed her brace in the 28th minute but that wasn’t to be the winner as David Mbalanga found the back of the net early into the second half — in the 47th minute — as the game climaxed into a highly entertaining draw.

The result sees Kumi University remain top of Group A with seven points from three games, while UCU is second with four points after two games.

Winless International University of East Africa and Victoria University make up the other teams in the group.

The flagship university competition resumes on Saturday with two-time champions Makerere University Business School visiting Muni University in Arua.

On Sunday, Gulu University hosts Ndejje University in what promises to be a mouthwatering encounter.
