Frances Totti Sande was direct as he looked ahead to the University Football League final.
“I have a lot of confidence in my players because they have played many high-level matches, including the Masaza Cup. I believe we are going to lift the trophy,” the YMCA head coach said on Thursday.
His belief comes at the right time. YMCA will face Muteesa I Royal University this Saturday in the 2025/26 final at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, a venue hosting the UFL final for the first time.
Both teams are chasing their first title, adding extra edge to a contest already built on strong runs from each side.
YMCA’s path to the final showed their resilience. They reached this stage for the first time after edging Kampala University 6-5 in a tense penalty shootout following a closely fought semifinal.

Muteesa I Royal University arrive just as confident. They knocked out St Lawrence University 3-1 on aggregate, ending the Saints’ six-year unbeaten run at home.
The final will not only crown new champions but also mark a shift in the competition’s history, with Nakivubo hosting the showpiece for the first time after previous editions at Lugogo and Wankulukuku.
Last season, Uganda Martyrs University won the title with a 3-0 victory over St Lawrence University.
This time, a new name will be written on the trophy.
