In solidarity with the Tooro Kingdom, the Masaza Cup Organising Committee mandated a sign of respect across all fixtures, with teams observing a minute of silence and wearing black armbands.
The gesture honoured His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV and the people of Tooro during their time of mourning.
On the green, Kansai Plascon-powered Buddu County finished top of Group Bulange A following a goalless draw against Buvuma in their final group-stage match.
The away point was enough for Buddu to secure first place with 19 points, completing a strong group stage and booking their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Masaza Cup.
Buddu’s closest challengers, Kyadondo and Busujju, both finished on 17 points, with goal difference separating the two sides in second and third place, respectively.
With the group stage now concluded, attention shifts to the knockout phase, where Buddu face a tough test against Gomba, the record five-time champions.
Buddu will begin the quarter-final tie away from home, traveling to Gomba for the first leg before returning to Kitovu for the second leg in pursuit of their fourth title.
Elsewhere, Ssaza Kyaggwe qualified for the 2026 quarter-finals after collecting the highest tally across the group stage (23 points in 10 games, with just one defeat). They now march on in search of their first-ever Masaza Cup trophy.
