Ronnie Ziraba came off the bench to become the hero for Kyaggwe Ssaza, scoring the decisive goal as his side defeated Bugerere 1–0 in the first leg of the Kansai Plascon–powered 2026 Masaza Cup semifinals.
Kyaggwe dominated much of the 90 minutes on home turf, but they had to wait until the second half to find the breakthrough despite numerous clear chances.
Ziraba’s goal gave Kyaggwe a crucial advantage heading into the return leg, which will be played next Sunday at the Ntenjeru Ssaza Playground.
With the score tied at 0–0 entering the late stages, Bugerere’s task became even more difficult after Isaac Ssebunya was shown a red card, leaving his team to finish the match with 10 men.
Attention now turns to the second leg, with Bugerere set to host Kyaggwe on Sunday, 4 October 2026, as both teams battle for a place in the Masaza Cup final.
