In their first ever CAF Champions League group stages, Vipers SC have been pitted in Group C along with Simba SC of Tanzania, Guinea’s Horoya Athletic and three-time champions, Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
The Uganda Premier League champions are by far the lowest ranked side in the group, but, Roberto Oliveira aka Robertinho is not bothered, as he feels his side has what it takes to qualify to the knockout stages.

“We have seen our opponents, a good draw with big teams but Vipers is a big club too,” the tactician spoke to the club media.
“I’ll speak to my group to respect the opponents but the opponents have to respect Vipers too. I believe so much in the quality of my players.”
“Our objective is one and clear, we have to qualify (to the knockout stages), I love the big matches,” the Brazilian added.
The Venoms will open their campaign with a trip to North Africa against Raja Casablanca on either February 10th or 11th, 2023, before hosting Horoya at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende between February 17th-18th.
Seven days later, they will host Simba before completing the doubleheader with the Tanzanian outfits between March 7th-8th.
The Kitende side will then host Casablanca between March 17th-18th, and finish the stages with Horoya in Guinea between March 31st-Apirl 1st, 2023.
