Vipers SC managed a superb 3-0 victory away from home, against Olympic Real De Bangui, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round over the weekend.
At the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat, the Kitende side outclassed their opponents, and now have one foot to the penultimate round, before hitting the group stages.
They now look certain to take on African kingpins and Democratic Republic of Congo outfit, TP Mazembe in the next round.
And, head coach Roberto Oliveira alias Robertinho has put the priceless result down to early preparations.
“We have been preparing for this for a long time and this is the result we have been working for,” the Brazilian said to Vipers’ media.
“We played preparatory matches against Young Africans SC and beat them 2-0 in a difficult stadium.”
“We also beat Rayon Sport FC at their home and that’s not easy at all. So, these matches prepared us really well,” added the passionate gaffer.
Strikes from Najib Yiga and new signings Abdu Lumala plus Isa Mubiru were enough to seal the deal on the night.
“We have built a strong team for the Champions League and they’re ready to fight to go very far in the competition.”
“Last year, we built a team for the Uganda Cup and the Premier League. This year, I trust my team will achieve our designated objectives.”
The two sides are set to meet for the final leg on Saturday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
